What  have Alabama Republicans done for voters and residents of this great state? On May 10th 2021, Governor Kay Ivey Announces End of Participation in All Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation Programs 82 days before they were suppose to expire; which was to end Sept. 6th 2021.  Her Reason;  “As Alabama’s economy continues its recovery, Governor Kay Ivey explained, we are hearing from more and more business owners and employers that it is increasingly difficult to find workers to fill available jobs, even though job openings are abundant,” said Governor Ivey. “Among other factors, increased unemployment assistance, which was meant to be a short-term relief program during emergency related shutdowns,  is now contributing to a labor shortage that is compromising the continuation of  Alabama’s recovery.” https://governor.alabama.gov/newsroom/2021/05/governor-kay-ivey-announces- end-of-participation-in-all-federal-pandemic-unemployment-compensation-programs Abortion In 2019, the state enacted a near-total abortion ban called the Human Life Protection Act. It is one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the U.S.  Alabama’s 2019 abortion ban, which prohibits all abortions unless medically necessary to avoid a serious health risk to the pregnant woman, became effective after Dobbs. There are no exceptions for cases involving rape, incest, or human trafficking.

Efforts to Prevent Residents from Traveling for Abortion Services

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A federal court in Alabama issued a ruling allowing Alabama health care providers to continue their lawsuit aimed at preventing Attorney General Steve Marshall and district attorneys throughout the state from prosecuting those who assist Alabamians seeking to travel across state lines to access legal abortion care Attorney General Marshall explicitly threatened they could face felony charges for supporting patients in accessing legal out-of-state care. https://www.aclualabama.org/en/news/court-allows-alabama-abortion-support- lawsuit-move-forward

Alabama Supreme Court ruling on IVF

We’re going to have a situation where people being able to get care for their infertility is going to be so much harder in Alabama, and not because we’re putting more protections in place, because the way the court has decided the status of a fertilized egg. Alabama Republicans spark another legal fight by not creating 2nd majority-Black district, a   group of lawmakers who are blatantly disregarding not just the Voting Rights Act, but a decision from the U.S. Supreme Court and a court order from the three-judge district court, A critic called it a “slap in the face” to Black Alabamians and the court. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/alabama-republicans-spark-fight-creating- 2nd-black-district/story?id=101592019 The question is what are the voters going to do this November?

What have democrats done for Alabama, with The Build Back Better Framework and how it has delivered for Alabama! President Biden’s Build Back Better framework will bring down costs that have held back families in Alabama for decades by cutting taxes and making child care, home care, education, health care, and housing more affordable. These investments will provide new learning opportunities for children, help parents and especially working parents make ends meet, and position the economy for stronger growth for years to come. The framework will create good-paying jobs for residents of Alabama, combating climate change, giving our kids cleaner air and water, and making America the leader in global innovation and 21st century manufacturing.  Deliver the largest investment in child care and early education in history. Provide access to affordable child care. Child care is a major strain for families in Alabama, where the average annual cost of a child care center for a toddler is $7,592, meaning that an Alabama family with two young children would on average spend 17% of their income on child care for one year. The lack of affordable options also makes it difficult for parents, and especially mothers, to remain in their jobs, contributing to the 20.1% gender gap in workforce participation between mothers and fathers in Alabama. The Build Back Better framework will enable Alabama to provide access to child care to about 300,000 young children (ages 0-5) per year from families earning under 2.5 times the Alabama median income (about $195,667 for a family of 4), and ensure these families pay no more than 7% of their income on high-quality child care. The plan will cover the families of 9 in 10 young children in the state. Free Preschool   Provide universal, high-quality, free preschool for every 3- and 4-year old in America. Today, only 23% of 3- and 4-year-olds in Alabama have access to publicly-funded preschool, and it costs about $8,600 per year for those who can’t access a publicly-funded program. The Build Back Better framework will enable Alabama to expand access to free, high-quality preschool to more than about 105,000 additional 3- and 4-year-olds per year and increase the quality of preschool for children who are already enrolled. Parents will be able to send their children to the preschool setting of their choice—from public schools to child care providers to Head Start—leading to lifelong educational benefits, allowing more parents to go back to work, and building a stronger foundation for Alabama’s future economic competitiveness. Federal Grants; Alabama was awarded a $1 million federal grant to assist with recovery from the coronavirus pandemic and for economic development planning, Rep. Terri Sewell announced on Thursday. The grant — part of President Biden’s American Rescue Plan and targeted specifically towards economic development projects https://www.alreporter.com/2021/10/22/sewell-announces-1-million-economic-development-grant/ (TNS) — Alabama has committed $537 million in federal funds for high-speed internet, the money allocated is one-fourth of the $2 billion Alabama received from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), a pandemic relief bill Congress passed two years ago. The federal government allows states to use the ARPA money for internet access, water and sewer projects, and other needs the pandemic did not cause. The Alabama Legislature allotted $277 million to broadband last year and another $260 million this month. https://www.govtech.com/network/alabama-plans-for-537m-to-support-high-speed-internet

Ukraine in aid package, Biden says

The total aid bill approved by Congress is $95.3 billion and includes foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.  “This package is literally an investment not only in Ukraine’s security, but in Europe’s security and our own security,” Biden said from the White House. “We are sending Ukraine the equipment from our own stockpile, then we will replace those stockpiles with new products made by American companies here in America: Patriot missiles made in Arizona, Javelins made in Alabama, artillery shells made in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. In other words, we are helping Ukraine while at the same time investing in our own industrial base, strengthening our own national security, and supporting jobs in nearly 40 states all across America.” https://www.al.com/news/birmingham/2024/04/more-alabama-made-missiles- heading-to-ukraine-in-aid-package-biden-says.html

Meridian Breaks Ground in Selma, Alabama, on Transformative Fiber Infrastructure Project as of today, more than 304,000 households across the state are receiving affordable high-speed internet due to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Since the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed, Alabama will receive approximately $2.5 billion for transportation to invest in roads, bridges, public transit, ports and airports and roughly $137 million for clean water. Roads and Bridges: In Alabama, there are 620 bridges and over 2,961 miles of highway in poor condition. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will rebuild our roads and includes the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the interstate highway system. Based on formula funding alone, Alabama is expected to receive approximately $5.8 billion over five years in federal funding for highways and bridges. Internet: High -speed internet is necessary for Americans to do their jobs, participate in school, access health care, and stay connected. Yet nearly 32% of Alabamians do not have an internet subscription. Progress to date: To date, Alabama has received $5 million through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program (BEAD) to help provide access to high-speed internet across the state. In addition, about 304,000 households in Alabama are enrolled in the Affordable Connectivity Program, with more signing up every day. Households can check their eligibility, sign up, and find fully covered internet plans at GetInternet.gov. \

Closing techniques ; This is the mindset of a great con, there is 1 message from  Maga, and it is echoed thousands of times a day, from the GOP sound machine. We are going to win, we are almost there, and it is almost like a chant, a repetitive sound to dominate the air waves.  Here is a description of how it manifests and duplicates itself. The Technique; A closing technique in sales is a method used to encourage prospects to convert into customers or voters. There’s a process to closing successfully first, you have to pique their interest, butter them up with benefits, and offer an unbeatable deal.  Know the difference between a strategy and a technique? A strategy is a plan of action to achieve a goal. A technique is a method you use to work towards reaching that goal. The Assumption Close; By assuming your voter is ready to close, it can help motivate them to do so.  The goal is to bring positivity. sometimes, showing good intentions earns trust. And by asking assumptive questions, it gets the voter’s mind working on making a decision. The Hard Close; This close is suppose to be a last ditch effort, also known as  ” what have you got to lose”.  It is the hail Mary of techniques, used only after attempting others and failed. We advance innovative management approaches that address the impacts of changing ocean conditions and enhance the resilience of both fish and fishing communities. As warming waters alter where fish live and what they eat, we adjust our conservation efforts to keep pace. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) defines resilience as a “system’s capacity to anticipate and reduce, cope with, and respond to and recover from external disruptions.“ Story: https://wildoceans.org/wild-oceans-joins-world-climate-change-statement/

The world is warming at a record pace, with unseasonable heat baking nearly every

continent on Earth. April, the last month for which statistics are available, marked

the 11th consecutive month the planet has set a new temperature high.

Myth #1: Climate change has always happened, so we should not worry about it.

Myth #2: Climate change is a natural process. It has nothing to do with people.

Myth #3: A couple of degrees of warming is not that big of a deal.

Myth #4: An increase in cold snaps shows climate change is not real.

Myth #5: Scientists disagree on the cause of climate change.

Myth #6: It is too late to avert a climate catastrophe, so we might as well

keep burning fossil fuels.

Myth #7: Climate models are unreliable.

Myth #8: We do not need to worry about lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

Humanity is inventive; we can just adapt to climate change.

The mid-70s marked an end to the women’s liberation movement. Fear and resentment of the liberated woman became more prevalent. This was understandable as the traditional homemaker had always been celebrated in American society, and now the world seemed to be saying that being a housewife was not enough. The 1960s changed the future of America because the counter cultural movement of its youth showed that one can use their voice to fight for change. It was a time of protests to encourage social reform. World-changing events that occurred in the 1960s included Richard Nixon’s presidency and the Watergate scandal, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War, and the assassinations of Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, and Bobby Kennedy. The 1960s was a time of sweeping movements to demand justice. Protesters demanded women’s rights, racial equality, and world peace. Counterculture movements refer to a time when young people rejected their parent’s values and traditions and fought for their agenda. https://study.com/academy/lesson/culture-of-1960s-america.html
