The revelations of the researcher and the resulting statistics were alarming,
they began to witness the early signs of a changing climate, a fateful prediction
was made, by the year 2000, CO2 levels could reach 400 parts per million, a
milestone with dangerous results. Several groups within the industry began to
recognize the potential financial and reputational damage. They decided to
suppress the research’s findings, and during the 1950s, the group used their
influence to manipulate public perception and political decisions to protect
the industries profits and so begin the era of climate denial.
